According to European standards, as of 2014, all blinds must be manufactured as ‘safe by design’ or must be fitted with a safety device – this means that blinds must have no cords, chains or string that can form a dangerous loop. As such, most blinds manufacturers have either eliminated cords entirely from their designs, or they have created unique ways to hide or make these cords inaccessible and therefore child-safe and pet-safe. These designs not only protect young children and animals, but often make operation smoother, easier and more convenient.
